How Wolf Builders started

Travis Wolfbauer

Travis started on the supply side of roofing, working with manufacturers and learning which products held up, which carried real warranties, and which came back with defects. From there he and his dad ran a sales company, managing salesmen for other roofing contractors in storm restoration.

That is where it went wrong. Travis had homeowners approved through insurance, and the contractor he was selling for installed the wrong shingle and scratched up their siding. Those customers thanked him for his work and told him not to use that company again. It cost him about $30,000 in commissions, and it settled what kind of company he would run.

After a hailstorm, roofing turns into a gold rush, and plenty of contractors are happy to replace the same roof after every storm. Travis wants to put a roof on once. That means Class 4 impact-rated shingles, the highest hail rating a shingle can carry, even though they cost him more and earn no extra rebate. It also means being picky about who he hires, because quality has to run from the top down.

The Crew

Same faces, every job

Travis is selective about who he hires, because the crew is where a roof is won or lost. Wolf Builders runs its own crew instead of brokering your roof out to whoever is free that week. The people who tear off the old roof are the people who put the new one on, and they have worked together long enough to move without being told.

That is the whole reason a roof goes on in one day. A crew that knows each other does not stand around waiting for instructions.

How we work

Three things we do not bend on

The same foreman carries your job through all four steps, so you are never explaining your roof to someone new. Most of the calendar sits between the estimate and build day, while material is ordered and the weather opens up. The work itself is usually one day on site.

Show up when we said

If the crew is booked for Tuesday, the crew is there Tuesday. When weather moves us you hear it from the foreman that morning, not from an empty driveway at noon.

No shortcuts on materials

We install Class 4 impact-rated shingles, and we never swap in a cheaper underlayment or skip the ice and water shield to hit a number. What is written on the estimate is exactly what goes on your roof, and it is built to outlast the mortgage, not the warranty card.

Leave it cleaner than we found it

Tarps before the tear-off, magnet after. Landscaping covered, gutters cleared of nails, dumpster gone the day we finish. You should not be finding roofing nails in the lawn next spring.
